\n\t\t\t\tAs Lord- Lieutenant of Merseyside I represent His Majesty the King in the County. I am supported by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, about forty Deputy Lieutenants, and a small Lieutenancy Office. \n\nWe follow the example of the King and other members of the Royal Family in seeking to promote a spirit of co-operation and good atmosphere in the county by creating links between all sectors of the community: Civic, Business, Religious, the Uniformed Services, Legal, Education, Cultural, Charitable and Voluntary. \n\nLiverpool, the capital of Merseyside, is a name recognised all over the world for its unique qualities and history, with its proud heritage as a port complemented by an increasing confidence as a city in the modern world. Its people are celebrated for their warmth and wit, and it has produced more than its share of remarkable individuals, whether in politics, music, business, or sport. \n\nMy family ancestors have lived in a village nearby since about the time when Liverpool, then no more than a village itself, was granted the status of a recognised town by King John in 1207. The Monarchy has changed a great deal since then, and Liverpool has advanced its boundaries from a few small streets to cover a great metropolitan area. I am proud of our heritage, and privileged that I am able to serve the people of Merseyside.\n\nMy aim is to promote the Honours and Awards system in order to ensure that those deserving are recognised. To do this I have three aims:\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Mark Blundell was appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside in September 2017. The Lord-Lieutenant resides at Crosby Hall in the village of Little Crosby. The hall has been in the possession of the Blundell family for many centuries.<\/p>

Mark Blundell was educated at Downside School and was a scholar at Balliol College, Oxford, where he studied Physics and Philosophy.\u00a0 Staring out as an articled solicitor with Weightmans in Liverpool, he then moved to London where he later became a partner at Boodle Hatfield in Mayfair. In 1986 Mark moved back to Little Crosby and in 1988 he founded the Crosby Hall Educational Trust (CHET), a residential centre for children, created out of redundant 17th Century stables. He remains chair of CHET today.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For many years he was a member of the Council of Liverpool University, holding the posts of President and Pro-Chancellor and serving on numerous committees. He was a member of the Heritage Lottery Fund Committee for the North West between 2001 and 2007. He has been a member of the Council of Tate Liverpool and a trustee of Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services. Mr Blundell is currently a governor of Royal Northern College of Music, chair of Liverpool University Pension Fund, a trustee of Merseyside Buildings Preservation Trust and of Heritage Trust for the North West.<\/p>

He is married to Suzanne, a child psychotherapist of Swiss origin.
