Wirral is a peninsula bounded by the Dee Estuary, Irish Sea and River Mersey and its main towns include Birkenhead, Wallasey, Heswall, and West Kirby.\u00a0 With some 25 miles of coast and over 70km2 of countryside, Wirral is well known for its many attractions and things to do, including rural walks, cycling, water sports, and there are 14 golf courses to choose from. Within Wirral there is a wealth of cultural and heritage attractions including the Lady Lever Art Gallery, which houses one of the UK\u2019s finest collections of fine and decorative art including the best collection of Wedgwood jasperware anywhere in the world, alongside internationally renowned Pre-Raphaelite paintings. Port Sunlight, the village founded by \u2018Soap King\u2019 William Hesketh Lever in 1888 to house Lever Brothers\u2019 factory workers, remains the home to a fascinating museum, beautiful architecture, a world-class art gallery, stunning parkland and a thriving community. Other attractions include Birkenhead Priory & St. Mary’s Tower (the oldest building on Merseyside); the Wirral Transport Museum & Tramway; and the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum. Summer 2022 will see the opening of Eureka! Science + Discovery at Seacombe Ferry Terminal \u2013 a brand new attraction to inspire young people to pursue science.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2020, the population of Wirral was 324,336 and the value of the economy was \u00a33.9bn. Wirral is home to major coastal assets, having a long-established maritime sector that continues to compete globally. Wirral\u2019s enviable coastline and open countryside enable a flourishing visitor economy that builds on the range of natural environments and the heritage of the area. A growing cultural and creative sector is breathing new life into Wirral\u2019s economy, which remains a home for many major companies that make innovative products that include the latest in touchscreen technology, to the next generation of cars, planes and ships.<\/p>

Other significant international businesses include Unilever, Bristol Myers Squibb and the world famous Cammell Laird shipbuilders.\u00a0The LeftBank of the Mersey, which overlooks Liverpool\u2019s famous waterfront, is undergoing major regeneration, with plans stretching from New Brighton to Rock Ferry. Wirral Council recently presented an ambitious 20-year vision for Birkenhead through the Birkenhead 2040 Framework. At the heart of the proposals is the creation of new family-friendly neighbourhoods with beautiful, green public parks, and unlocking opportunities along the waterfront.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
