The key role of the Lord-Lieutenant is to plan and organise Royal Visits and to escort members of the Royal family when they visit Merseyside on official duties.
Other important duties include the presentation of honours and awards, and the presentation of The King’s Awards for Enterprise and The King’s Award for Voluntary Service, The King’s Scout, and The King’s Guide Awards. He will also present British Empire Medals, on behalf of His Majesty the King.
The Lord-Lieutenant ensures that The King’s Private Office is kept informed about local issues, particularly when a Royal Visit is being planned. He retains links with the Regular and Reserve Forces (Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force) and Cadets.
The Lord-Lieutenant is a strong supporter of the work that is undertaken by volunteers and is enthusiastic about fostering good relations and co-operation between all communities and organisations across Merseyside.
Throughout the year he attends a significant number of events, meeting people from all walks of life, faith groups, third sector and business organisations.
If you wish to invite the Lord-Lieutenant to your special event or organisation, please contact the Merseyside Lieutenancy Office.
