Dame Elaine Inglesbey-Burke

Elaine has held Executive Nurse Director positions since 1996 in both specialist and large acute Trusts. She qualified as a Registered Nurse in Warrington and specialised in critical care and general medicine. Elaine has held various clinical positions at ward level and nurse specialist.
 
Elaine is educated to Postgraduate Degree Level and maintains her professional / clinical development through regular clinical shifts and Executive safety shifts with frontline staff.   Elaine is a Florence Nightingale Leadership Scholar and took the opportunity to undertake a Women’s Leadership Programme for Global Executives at Harvard University as well as the Executive Quality Academy at the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, Boston.  Elaine has a strong track record in professional nursing and operational management.
 
In 2015 Elaine was awarded the CBE for Services to Nursing in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List and in 2019 received an honorary professorship through the University of Salford.
 
Elaine is currently the Chief Nursing Officer of the Northern Care Alliance, which incorporates Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Elaine is also a Non-Executive Director at NICE (National Institute of Care and Excellence), and has been a Trustee at Willowbrook Hospice in St Helens, Merseyside since 2009.

Elaine Inglesbey-Burke CBE was commissioned as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2020.
