In 2012 I was surprised and delighted to be appointed a Deputy Lieutenant. Six years later, having in the interim served as High Sheriff, I was invited to be Vice Lord-Lieutenant to support the Lord-Lieutenant in his role as The King’s representative in the county. As someone who has spent all his life on Merseyside, I regard it as an immense privilege to be actively involved in the civic, voluntary and social life of the county and to have the opportunity to promote, in whatever way I can, its well-being.
